I remember the day I walked onto the Southern
Campus for the first time. I was never sure that this would be the right place
for me. I had seen many other colleges before I had applied and got accepted.
Then I met all these amazing people and I knew Southern was right for me.
As a college freshman I am accomplishing so much.
Getting here and being able to say I made it to college is, an amazing
accomplishment. I feel as a college student I have the ability to do so much
more than I did in high school.
For
me college is a place I feel like I can truly be myself. There isn’t really
that constant burden to impress anyone like there was for me in high school. In
high school I felt all that anyone cared about was how popular you were even if
it meant you had to act like a total idiot. For college you are paying for your
education there isn’t as much time to fool around and be stupid. I feel this
environment is better for learning than high school was.
As a college
freshman I have one goal. Graduate from college with a degree in something I
know I want to spend the rest of my life doing. Right now I have an idea of
what I want to do with my life. I either want to be a speech pathologist or a
special Ed teacher. I am at southern to push myself to achieve this goal. My peers
have told me, that these programs are a challenge but I have a goal that I want
to achieve. When I want something like this I set my mind to it and I can
accomplish it!
I still can't believe I am finally at college. I feel like I've been waiting forever to get here. Now that I am here I am ready for my journey to begin. SCSU CLASS OF 2017! Shout out to Session 1 Group 2!
