Before coming to INQ 101 42N on the first day of
class, I had absolutely no idea what this class was truly about. I knew that
all freshmen had to take the class and that I would not only have INQ with all
of them I would also have SOC.
The
dictionary definition of inquiry is “an act of asking for information” So my 17
year old girl definition is asking a question about something you don’t
understand. So I thought this entire class is just a place you can ask
questions. Then I realized that this inquiry class is more than just that. It
is a place to connect with my freshman peers. It is a place where I can learn
more about myself as a learner. This class is a place for me to learn so much
more about myself in general. This class is not just about learning about
myself either. It is a place for me to learn about the strengths and weaknesses
of my peers so I can exchange ideas with them and learn about how other people
work.
The
two important words I learned about this week were audience and delivery. Both
of these words, were talked about by my English professor. He explained how
important it is as a writer to know whom your audience is. He told us without
knowing who your audience is that there is no point to writing. He also
explained how important the delivery of a piece of writing is. Without the
proper delivery the audience won’t understand why you presented what you
presented to them.
