The Webster dictionary definition of initiative
is, an introductory step. My view of this definition is putting yourself out
there and going out into the world. My experience with initiative was with
applying for college. I knew what I wanted to do with my life, so I researched
all of the colleges and universities that had communication disorders. After I
discovered these institutions I was the one to call and email to set up tours
and visits. Without my initiative to want to pursue a college education I would
not be at Southern. I most likely would have ended up at Norwalk Community
College because I didn’t do all this research.
One
word I discovered this week was Jargon. The definition of jargon is confused unintelligible
language. My experience with jargon’s is language I don’t understand and that I
have to look up in the dictionary. Also when people speak any foreign language
for me it feels like a jargon.
Another
good word I talked about in my classes this week is composition. Composition is
the act of organizing and writing things. Composition I have learned is very
important throughout your college experience. In the notes I took this week it
said it is very important to take a composition class because it helps you
become at better reader and writer.
